    The same spoke thread treatment used by our pro wheel builders is now available to everyone. Stans SRD Spoke Powder fills the threads of the spoke and functions as both a lubricant during assembly and a thread lock once built. Each bottle contains 24g (.8oz) which will treat approximately 300 wheels. The PTFE powder in Stans SRD Spoke Powder acts as a barrier, keeping the metal of the nipple from bonding to the metal of the spoke and preventing spoke wind up during build or adjustment. In promoting a smoother turning nipple, the powder also ensures more accurate and consistent wheel builds, with less ping and pop during and after the build. The powder also fills the threads of the spoke to act as a thread lock that prevents loosening and detensioning, and is particularly well suited for mechanically locking nipples such as Sapims Secure Lock.  

    Application of Stans Spoke Powder
    Direct Method 1:
    1. Place a small amount of powder into a shallow tray
    2. Dip each spoke thread directly into the powder, covering only ½ to ¾ of the threads
    3. Drop spoke through hub flange and wipe excess powder from flange
    Direct Method 2:
    1. Place a small amount of powder into a shallow tray
    2. Drop all spokes through hub flanges
    3. Bundle spokes and dip into powder as a group, covering only ½ to ¾ of the threads
    Slurry Method:
    1. Place a small amount of powder into a tray
    2. Add an equal amount of 90% (or higher) isopropyl alcohol; maintain a 1:1 ratio of powder to
    alcohol by volume
    3. The alcohol flashes off relatively quickly and more can be added to reconstitute the slurry as
    needed to maintain a 1:1 ratio
    4. Apply to each spoke or to spokes bundles as a group, covering only ½ to ¾ of the threads
    NOTE: Use caution to prevent loose Spoke Powder from coming into contact with concrete
    or non-carpeted flooring surfaces. Floor can become very slippery.
